Become a tourist in your own town
Whether your cross-country RV trek was parked due to high gas prices or your European vacation dreams were dashed when the almighty dollar fell, don't let the excitement get sucked out of your summer. Unpack, relax and enjoy a summer staycation!
Staycation is a portmanteau of "stay" and "vacation," and it's growing in popularity. With proper planning, you can make yours memorable and meaningful for the whole family.
When's the last time you bought tickets and went to the top of the Arch? Or spent an afternoon at our city's wonderful zoo? Or took in a show at the Fabulous Fox Theatre?
Themed staycations are also a fun concept. Longing for a trip to Italy? Instead, teach the kids to play bocce and then spend the day exploring The Hill. Got a yen for a trip to Japan? Take in the Japanese gardens at Missouri Botanical Gardens, followed by night out for sushi. Think like a tourist. Act like a tourist. There's a world of exploring to do... right in your own backyard.
